Don't cut into it, I would use movable kicker boxes. This way when you want sound up front you can have it and when you don't you can have them put away.

I know this is super old but I was wondering how you removed the cap off the boat. I just bought a 1977 tri-hull and I'm needing to do all of what you're doing here. The last boat I did, I didn't remove the cap and it was a pain to do.

Had a 1971 glastron 142 skiflite bought new in 71 would love to have another needing minor repairs. Back in those days glastron was the Cadillac of boating like to hear if any for sale in my area Fall River mass

What material are you using as the stringers?

I have the same boat. 71 Glastron v156. My floors are rotted and my stringers aren’t great. I got the boat for $200 with trailer and a 50hp johnson on it that has good compression and I was told the boat was parked due to carb issues. Battery’s are dated Jan 01 lol. I plan on replacing the stringers or strengthening them as best I can then do a new floor and glass it all in. I plan on building a bow deck as this boat will be used 98% of the time for fishing so deck space is crucial. I really dig the hull design on these boats and it’s pretty awesome how many you can either get for free or next to nothing.

I have the same boat. Bought it with trailer for $200. Has a rotted floor and carbs need gone through but I’m pretty stoked for it. Started tearing the old floor out yesterday.

I got a new one and it's a little tight fitting. Seems about a ¼in too tall and wide, but measures the same overall. The original is moon shaped on the bottom and the new one is straight which is making it too wide to fit in the housing.

I pulled my adult daughter and her 2 children up together with my 70 hp. evinrude .Years ago I had a 16' Larson with a 85 hp ,3 cylinder Force and it would peg 35 mph gage on boat, no GPS back then.

Great job on boat. I purchased 1974 V156 with a 70 hp Evinrude on it .I can do 28 to 30 mph pulling a slollem skier with 2 adults and 2 children in boat. I did go to a 4 blade prop. for a quicker plane. I was wondering what your 85 hp can do for WOT speed.Again great job,wish I had your drive so I could do same to my Glastron.

I know this is an old video. I found it on youtube today, 8/23/2023. I was searching for stringer rebuilding. I currently have an 1980 Ebbtide Dyna Trak 160. It's a tri-V 16' bassboat. I will be doing exactly what you did on your boat, a cap off restore. I am currently awaiting my settlement from the Navy on the Camplejune debacle. Lost both parents, dad was the marine and the whole family lived there for over a year. So anyway, It's pretty much on hold for now. Watching and will rewatch a few times. Great job on this project, and should last another 30-40 years.

Can anyone tell me where to find a 1975 Tide Craft blueprint for stringer restoration. We just cut the floor out, and we are not sure how the stringer setup should go because the floor is SHOT!!

I would love to see some underneath shots of your trailer bunks/rollers. I have a 77 skiflite which is close to this boat and I think my trailer is a little screwy and there may be rollers resting where they shouldn't be.
